This is a antique, hand carved, African reclining chair which was tribally made from a piece of wood from a naturally forked branching tree with a crossing carved plank like piece of wood. This amazing African chair comes from the Tiv tribal people of the Benue River area in Nigeria, West Africa. Sometimes these antique Tiv tribe reclining chairs are referred to as stargazing chairs.
This rare African Tiv also called Tivi tribal wooden chair measures 18 inches high by 20 1/2 inches wide by 41 inches long. This amazing chair weighs 24 pounds. Great antique tribally used rustic condition with wear consistent with its age and some cracks in the wood.This specimen is very desirable and would make a fine addition to any African art collection or be a wonderful piece of African design furniture for home decor. Please note that this chair is not only large but is heavy and would need to be crated professionally therefore it would be very expensive to ship.
